I don't throw the word "viral" around loosely, but according to The Atlantic my marriage proposal went viral.

On Leap Day 2012, I applied my internet geekdom towards asking my girlfriend (now wife) Katie to "say yes."

Working with Buzzfeed, they let me take over their home page for one day to solicit the entire internet to help me ask for Katie's hand. I created a blank template of myself down on one knee, and then subsequently requested that the internet meme the hell out of me until Katie took notice.

Luckily it only took 5 minutes for Katie to see the proposal in her social feeds. After about 30 minutes of her blasting my phone with texts and phone calls asking, "WHAT IS HAPPENING!!?" I finally met her in-person to propose IRL.

She said yes and the rest is history.
